Can we prove that Jesus rose from the dead?

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008 @ 10:30 am | Bible Study

I’ve talked with you at some length about the reasons that I find the New Testament reliable, and the most powerful claims that come from the New Testament are claims about Jesus’ miraculous resurrection from the dead.  Most of us have just taken this fact on faith, but did you know that there is a vast array of contemporary scholarship that points directly to the resurrection of Jesus as historical fact?

The following video is taken from a debate that I saw between William Lane Craig and Bishop John Shelby Spong.  This debate was on the topic of Jesus’ resurrection.  Craig contends very strongly that Jesus’ resurrection is the best explanation for the facts given in the Gospels regarding the Passion story.  Take a look, and tell me what you think. Craig’s claim, in this part of the debate, is that the majority of New Testament scholars agree upon three historical facts regarding Jesus’ resurrection story.
